East Lansing – Michigan State senior guard Eron Harris was named Tuesday to the watch list for the Jerry West Award, given annually to the top shooting guard in the nation.

Harris is one of 20 players that made the list, a group that will be narrowed to 10 by the middle of February. Joining Harris on the watch list are Malcolm Hill of Illinois, James Blackmon of Indiana and Peter Jok of Iowa.

Last season, Harris averaged 9.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists. But it was his play during the four games Denzel Valentine was out with a knee injury that was impressive. In that stretch, Harris averaged 17.8 points, including a 27-point game against Oakland followed by 21 against Iowa.

Harris, who sat out the 2014-15 season after transferring from West Virginia, scored 17.2 points a game for the Mountaineers as a sophomore in 2013-14.
