MSU's Bridges earns third Big Ten weekly award

Michigan State's Miles Bridges averaged 20 points and 7.5 rebounds in two games last week.

East Lansing – Michigan State's Miles Bridges was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday, sharing the honor with Mike Watkins of Penn State.

It is the third time Bridges has been named the conference’s top freshman this season, matching the three times his teammate, Nick Ward, has earned the same honor.

Bridges averaged 20 points and 7.5 rebounds in games against Minnesota and Ohio State while shooting 73.7 percent from the floor and 75 percent from 3-point range.

Bridges led Michigan State to the victory over No. 24 Minnesota with 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field to go along with six rebounds and four blocks. On Sunday at Ohio State, he matched his career-high with 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting and added nine rebounds.

He leads the team in scoring at 15.3 points a game and rebounding at 8.1.
