MSU football completes nonconference slate through 2020
East Lansing – Michigan State announced its nonconference football schedule through the 2020 season on Thursday, confirming past reports of which opponents would be included.
The Spartans will open the 2018 season by hosting Utah State on Sept. 1, followed by a trip to Arizona State on Sept. 8 and hosting Central Michigan on Sept. 29. The meeting with Utah State will be the first between the two schools while the Arizona State game is the first part of a home-and-home series with the Sun Devils.
Michigan State will host Tulsa on Aug. 31 to open the 2019 season followed by a home game with Western Michigan on Sept. 7 and the return trip from Arizona State on Sept. 14.
The 2020 season, at this time, opens with a bye followed by a trip to BYU on Sept. 12, a visit from Toledo on Sept. 19 and a home game with Miami (Fla.) on Sept. 26. The BYU game completes a home-and-home with the Cougars, who played at Spartan Stadium in 2016 while the Miami game is the first part of a home-and-home.
Michigan State will play at Miami on Sept. 18, 2021. Other future nonconference games already agreed to include at Boise State on Sept. 17, 2022 and a home game with Boise State on Sept. 16, 2023.
