For many Michigan fans, this just adds insult to injury.
The large gold Block "M" on the Diag on Michigan's Central Campus was spray painted green overnight Tuesday night / Wednesday morning.
Alejandro Zuniga, managing sports editor of the Michigan Daily, the university's student newspaper, took a photo of the green "M" and posted it on Twitter.
The perpetrator added an "S" and a "U" in white spray paint after the "M."
By late Wednesday morning, the paint had been cleared from the surface.
MSU, of course, physically manhandled Michigan, 29-6, in last year's rivalry game in East Lansing. This year's game is also at MSU on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
