Michigan has added T.J. Weist, a former Michigan graduate assistant in the early 1990s and most recently Connecticut interim coach, to his staff as the senior offensive analyst.

Weist assisted with the receivers, including 1991 Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard, during his previous stint with the Wolverines (1990-1993).

“He has shown the ability to develop countless NFL-caliber wide receivers over his career and has immense knowledge of the collegiate game,” UM coach Jim Harbaugh said in a statement Thursday. “He will be a great asset to our program.”

Weist was the UConn offensive coordinator in 2013 before becoming interim head coach four games in that season.

“My family and I are excited to be part of the greatest program in college football history and look forward to doing our part in winning the Big Ten championship,” Weist said in the statement.”

Weist also coached at Western Kentucky when Jack Harbaugh, Jim Harbaugh’s father, was head coach.
