Four-star linebacker Roquan Smith, who had been considering Michigan, announced Friday that he would sign a letter-of-intent with the University of Georgia.

Smith, who played at Macon County High School in Georgia, took an official visit to Michigan a few weeks ago, then said on Signing Day he was headed to UCLA.

Smith didn't sign his letter-of-intent that day and opted out of his commitment when UCLA defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich left the Bruins to accept a job in the NFL with the Falcons.

Before picking Georgia, Smith also was considering Texas A&M.

Smith, ranked No. 47 on's top 100 list of 2015 players, developed a relationship with Michigan defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin while Durkin was working at Florida.
