No. 1 recruit Rashan Gary likes 'family environment' at UM

Rashan Gary

Defensive tackle Rashan Gary of Paramus (N.J.) Catholic is the new No. 1 player in the ESPN 300 rankings for the 2016 class.

Gary (6-4, 280 pounds) is also the No. 1 player on Scout.com, and Michigan is among the schools Gary is considering.

Gary visited Michigan in March and told ESPN's Tom VanHaaren that he hopes to visit Alabama, Auburn and Mississippi this spring.

Of his Michigan visit, Gary said: "I liked the academics at Michigan and the family environment. There was a lot of love there. When I was walking down the street, they knew who I was. So it was a lot of love from the fans, too."

Michigan's top 2014 recruit, defensive back Jabrill Peppers, is from Paramus Catholic, and UM coach Jim Harbaugh has added former Paramus Catholic coach Chris Partridge to his recruiting staff.
