Steelers pick up ex-UM QB Devin Gardner

The Pittsburgh Steelers claimed on waivers former Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner a day after he was released by the New England Patriots, the NFL team said Tuesday.

Gardner, who played at UM from 2010-14, signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent. He was cut along with former Michigan linebacker Cameron Gordon on Monday.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound player was making the transition from quarterback to receiver.
