ABC affiliate WXYZ (Channel 7) announced Thursday it will be home of "Inside Michigan Football," featuring new coach Jim Harbaugh as part of a partnership with the university.
The show will air on Sundays from 10:30-11 a.m., beginning Aug. 30, and will run for 14 weeks. It will include game analysis, player interviews and "exclusive insider information" from Harbaugh, according to a release from the network.
The network also will broadcast "Inside Michigan Basketball" featuring coach John Beilein, beginning Dec. 6.
"WXYZ and the University of Michigan have a long history of successful sports programming," said Mike Murri, WXYZ vice-president and general manager, in a news release. "For years, Channel 7 was the home for the Big Ten Ticket Show, featuring the legendary coach, Bo Schembechler. We are excited to team up with the University of Michigan and present this new era of college sports featuring Michigan's outstanding coaches, Jim Harbaugh and John Beilein."
WXYZ said it will also broadcast "exclusive" one-on-one interviews on 7 Action News each Monday with Harbaugh during football season, and Beilein during basketball season.
"Michigan Athletics is excited to partner with WXYZ to expand the reach of our football and basketball coaches shows in southeast Michigan and throughout the state of Michigan," Jim Hackett, Michigan's interim athletic director, said in the news release. "This is a very meaningful relationship and one that will enhance the unprecedented interest that exists for our programs."
