Report: UM's Ondre Pipkins will transfer to Texas Tech
Former Michigan defensive tackle Ondre Pipkins will transfer to Texas Tech, according to a report.
"I believe they have the best plan for me now it's all about executing the plan," Pipkins told Joe Schad of ESPN.
Pipkins, who has one year of eligibility remaining, will sit out the 2015 season and will play in 2016.
Pipkins told ESPN in June that he was pressured at Michigan to stop playing football for medical reasons. In three years at Michigan Pipkins had a torn knee ligament, a neck injury and multiple concussions.
Pipkins said he had been asked several times during a two-month period by Harbaugh and other staffers to retire from football. He also said he was told he could remain on scholarship and complete his degree.
Visiting Comerica Park on June 30 to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before a Tigers game, Harbaugh was asked about Pipkins' desire to transfer and continue playing football.
"When it comes to the health and safety of the players, that argument trumps all other arguments," Harbaugh said.
Pipkins appeared in 23 games at Michigan and earned three varsity letters.
