Michigan is hosting one of the highest-ranked targets left on the board this weekend as Egg Harbor (N.J.) Cedar Creek wide receiver Ahmir Mitchell is coming to town for a visit with his mother one month after his previous visit.

Mitchell (6-3, 195 pounds) is ranked as the No. 59 player in the country on Scout and in the top 10 at wide receiver. He is part of a crew of East Coast recruits, several of whom are also from Jersey, who are either committed to Michigan or being courted heavily by the Wolverines. That list includes Rashan Gary, Ron Johnson, Brad Hawkins, Naseir Upshur and more.

He will first visit Ohio State for their Friday Night Lights camp on Friday before heading to Michigan.

The Wolverines already have a big receiver in the class in Hawkins but want to add more weapons, and Mitchell has the talent to be a go-to guy should he end up in Ann Arbor.

"He is a tremendous competitor," Scout analyst Brian Dohn says, "and it shows when the ball is in the air. He high-points the ball, and doesn't mind going over the middle. He can be a possession receiver, or a big-play guy."

Mitchell holds additional offers from Florida State, Penn State, Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Michigan State, Wisconsin, South Carolina and others.

As a junior, he caught 47 passes for 881 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Jones takes his time

Many recruiting analysts view Michigan as the No. 1 choice for Orlando (Fla.) Oak Ridge linebacker Jonathon Jones. While the Wolverines are in good position with him, there are other schools in the mix, and he wants to see more before making a decision.

"We did an unofficial visit to LSU and he did his unofficial visit to Michigan," his father, Charles Jones, told The Michigan Insider. "September 25th we go to Notre Dame and that's going to be an official visit. So that'll be the first official visit, and my wife and I are kind of breaking it up. So when he does his official visit to Michigan, she's going to go with him and I think we're both going to try and go when he goes to Stanford."

Jones does not have a timeline for a decision but indicated that it was not likely to be soon as he will take those official visits first. He had initially wanted to commit before the season, but will no longer do that.

Alabama duo coming to BBQ?

Florence (Ala.) linebacker Erroll Thompson, a physical, highly-recruited 6-foot-2, 240-pound prospect, says he may visit Michigan on Aug. 2 for the BBQ at the Big House. After initially saying he was coming, Thompson later said it was still being set up.

If he does make it to town, it is very likely 2017 teammate J'Marick Woods will come with him.

Woods, a 6-foot-4, 196-pound safety who could project to other positions in college, was offered by the Wolverines in May. Michigan is one of two offers for him, along with Kentucky.

Thompson is also considering Alabama and Mississippi State, among others.
