Two ESPN analysts believe UM is a playoff team

Michigan has put itself in the national championship picture, at least according to college football analysts Robert Smith and Mark May during Sunday’s “Championship Drive Show” on ESPN.

Smith had Michigan as the No. 4 seed in the playoff picture while May said the Wolverines were the top team in the Big Ten.

“Big Brother is going to be playing against that Michigan State defense that’s really struggling and it’s a physical Michigan attack on the offensive side of the ball,” Smith said. “On the defensive side of the ball just a tremendous group of athletes (for Michigan). ... Great lock-down corners like they used to have at Michigan State and that gives you a lot of flexibility with that secondary. I think Michigan beats Michigan State.”

Said May: “For Michigan State, two weeks in a row they struggled against opponents that they should have scored at least five touchdowns against easily.

“I think Michigan State’s going to have the biggest issue when they face Michigan because Michigan is on a roll.”
