Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh told the Big Ten Network crew that worked the UM-Northwestern game last week that he's interested In finding out if there's a possibility to petition the NCAA for another year for defensive lineman Mario Ojemudia.
Ojemudia had surgery last week for a torn Achilles tendon suffered In the Maryland game. It was a season-ending surgery, but Harbaugh wants to know if there's an option to get another year of eligibility for him, according to BTN sideline reporter Lisa Byington's blog on Tuesday.
Ojemudia, a senior from Farmington Hills Harrison, was the No. 1 player on The Detroit News Blue Chip list in 2012.
He was being used in the buck linebacker position this season -- a hybrid linebacker / defensive end role.
UM defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin told Byington that he thinks Ojemudia could have a pro career.
"I feel bad for him," Durkin told Byington. "He was just starting to understand the position."
