UM’s Peppers lands freshman All-American honor
Michigan redshirt freshman Jabrill Peppers, the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Year, has made the Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-America Team.
Peppers was listed as a defensive back on the FWAA team, but he did a little bit of everything for the Wolverines, who finished 10-3. Peppers have 45 total tackles, including 5.5 tackles for loss.
Peppers also played on offense, rushing for a pair of touchdowns and averaging 9.9 yards per catch on eight receptions.
He also averaged 27.9 yards per kick return, and 11.4 per punt return.
Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh was one of three finalists for FWAA first-year Coach of the Year, which went to Houston’s Tom Herman. The other finalist was Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi, the longtime Michigan State defensive coordinator.
