Michigan has added Jimmie Dougherty, most recently the assistant head coach / pass game coordinator / receivers coach at San Jose State, to its staff, according to a sourced report Thursday by Sports Illustrated's Thayer Evans.

Dougherty reportedly is a new assistant offensive coach, but that more likely translates to senior offensive analyst replacing T.J. Weist, who left Michigan to coach receivers at South Florida.

Before joining the San Jose State staff, Dougherty coached receivers at Washington. He also worked on Jim Harbaugh's staff at San Diego as quarterbacks coach before also becoming the pass game coordinator.

Just more than a year ago, Dougherty reportedly was offered the quarterbacks job at Michigan.
