Tammi Carr stopped at the M Den Tuesday and was given a $10,000 check, representing Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh's compensation for his autograph signing session last Friday.

Harbaugh asked the M Den, Michigan's official apparel merchandiser, to make a $10,000 donation to the ChadTough Foundation in exchange for his appearance at the store.

The ChadTough Foundation was created by Tammi and husband Jason Carr to honor their 5-year-old son Chad, who died in November from an inoperable brain tumor.

The foundation is raising funds for research to find a cure for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), which took their son exactly three months ago.

Tammi Carr took to Facebook, as she has done since Chad was first diagnosed, to share the story about Harbaugh's donation:

"Coach Harbaugh is pretty amazing! He did an autograph signing at M Den last week and today I picked up a check for $10,000 from the M Den. Coach Harbaugh asked that they donate his fee directly to the ChadTough Foundation.

"People can complain about this or that … practicing in Florida or spending the night at a recruit's house. I don't care about any of that stuff. What I care about is the man has a great heart and that he really gets it! He is giving time, money and creating awareness for a disease that has had a very small voice. He is using his power to make a difference … as are Coach Beilein, Coach Hutchins and many others.  They are all great coaches and a great people and we are so thrilled to have their support!"

Michigan walk-on Files aces tryout, wins spot

Harbaugh and his wife, Sarah, have been active in their support of the Carrs. They flew in a medical specialist to examine Chad last year, and earlier this month during Harbaugh's "Signing of the Stars" event on National Signing Day, raised more than $110,000 in donations to the ChadTough Foundation.

Michigan basketball coach John Beilein is trying to raise $100,000 through ESPN's Infiniti Coaches Charity Challenge. Fans can vote daily on ESPN.com for Beilein. Softball coach Carol Hutchins and her team have played a vital supportive role for the Carr family since Chad was diagnosed.

Chad Carr was the grandson of former Michigan football coach Lloyd Carr and former All-American defensive back Tom Curtis. Jason Carr was a Michigan quarterback, and Tammi is an alum, so their ties to the Michigan family are deep.
