Harbaugh avails himself of steakhouse deal

Jim Harbaugh promised he’d be going for a steak, and he did just that Tuesday night in Ann Arbor.

Harbaugh, the Michigan football coach, tweeted out a picture of himself with wife, Sarah, enjoying a meal at Ruth’s Chris in Ann Arbor — three days after the Wolverines’ absolute demolition of Rutgers led to a stunning surge in business at the fancy downtown steakhouse.

Before Saturday’s game, Ruth’s Chris started a “Score Big” promotion which promised patrons a percentage off their bill based on the margin of victory for the Michigan football team.

Little did Ruth’s Chris see a 78-0 Michigan victory coming.

That would mean 78-percent off the bill, alcohol not included. Of course, Ruth’s Chris protected itself a little bit, capping the discount at 50 percent.

“Thank u for being such good sports!” Harbaugh said in a tweet. “Plus the steaks are A++. Mercy!”

It’ll surprise nobody that Harbaugh is washing his steak down with milk.

The “Score Big” promotion runs from Sunday through Thursday after Michigan football games.

This week, no surprise, Ruth’s Chris is completely booked through Thursday; it has been since Sunday.

The promotion can’t be combined with other offers, an entree must be purchased, and, of course, remember, gratuity should be based on the regular price. No need for the waiters and waitresses to suffer here.

Michigan is off this weekend, and returns to action Saturday, Oct. 22, with Illinois at Michigan Stadium. That’s the Wolverines Homecoming game, and another chance to get a sweet hookup for some steak.

The Ruth’s Chris “Score Big” promotion runs through the end of the season.
