Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel hopes to have a $21 million project at Oosterbaan Field House approved Thursday by the University of Michigan Regents. The project will include a new weight room for the football program.

The proposal is for a 32,000 square foot weight room to be built within the 78,000 square football fieldhouse, which also will undergo other upgrades.

Funding for the project will come from UM Athletic Department resources and gifts. It is expected to be completed in the winter of 2018.

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh has been fundraising for the weight room, including his proceeds from the book "Enthusiasm Unknown to Mankind" that he co-authored with photographer David Turnley, and from sales of his bobblehead.

Oosterbaan Field House is located next to Schembechler Hall and the Glick Field House.
