Michigan has added graduate transfer cornerback Casey Hughes, he announced via social media Sunday night.
Hughes, 6-foot and 185 pounds, started 11 games for Utah last season and had 35 tackles, forced two fumbles and had a pass breakup.
He shared his news Sunday night on Twitter: “It’s a blessing to say that I’ll be finishing my last collegiate season at the University of Michigan. I want to thank the entire Michigan coaching staff for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to join their program. COMMITTED! 〽️ #GoBlue”
Michigan also received a commitment Sunday from Vincent Gray, the Rochester Adams standout cornerback who had been a Missouri commitment.
Hughes had primarily been a special-teams player at Utah before earning a starting job last season. He was injured late in the season and did not play in he bowl game.
According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Hughes was going to face competition for his job by returners Julian Blackmon and Jaylon Johnson. Last week, the Utes signed Vonte Davis, a junior college transfer from Blinn College in Texas.
