Jim McElwain is officially on Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh’s staff as the 10th assistant, and will coach receivers.
“I am excited to work with this offensive staff and Coach Harbaugh,” McElwain said in a release Tuesday by Michigan. “There are a lot of great offensive minds in that coaching room and I look forward to learning from them.”
McElwain has 33 years of coaching experience, and has worked with eight college programs and one NFL team. He most recently was Florida’s head coach.
His hiring rounds out Michigan’s staff. McElwain fills the spot left by Dan Enos, who had been on the staff briefly before leaving for Alabama’s staff. Harbaugh recently said he does not expect any other staff departures.
