The Big Ten is sending four teams to the NCAA baseball tournament but Michigan is not one of them.

Minnesota won the Big Ten tournament on Sunday to earn the conference’s automatic bid, and on Monday, Indiana, Ohio State and Purdue were given at-large berths to the 64-team field.

The four-team regionals begin Friday at 16 campus sites.

Michigan, ranked No. 58 in the college baseball RPI, had hoped for a strong showing in the Big Ten tournament to boost its resume. But the Wolverines (33-21) lost to Purdue and Ohio State in the double-elimination tournament after an opening win over Iowa.

The Wolverines limped into the postseason, with five losses in their final six regular-season games.

Minnesota (40-13) earned one of the 16 No. 1 seeds and will host a regional that also includes UCLA, Gonzaga and Canisius.

No. 2 Indiana (38-17) travels to Austin, Texas, for a regional with Texas, Texas A&M and Texas Southern.

No. 2 Purdue (37-19) visits Chapel Hill, N.C., with host North Carolina, Houston and North Carolina A&T.

No. 3 Ohio State (36-22) heads to Greenville, N.C., where East Carolina is hosting with South Carolina and North Carolina-Wilmington.
