Detroit News predictions, Michigan vs. Iowa in Big Ten Championship Game

The Detroit News

Matt Charboneau, Angelique S. Chengelis, John Niyo and Bob Wojnowski of The Detroit News predict the outcome of Saturday’s Big Ten Championship Game between Michigan and Iowa at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis (8 p.m., Fox/950).

Matt Charboneau: The Hawkeyes have been one of the best defenses in the Big Ten this season, giving up just over 100 yards a game on the ground while intercepting 22 passes, which is the most in the nation. That should keep the Hawkeyes in the game. However, they haven't been up against a rushing attack like Michigan's, which is coming off a nearly 300-yard performance in the win over Ohio State. Add in Iowa's problems offensively — the Hawkeyes are 13th in the Big Ten in total offense and 10th in scoring — and this one adds up to a big night for the Wolverines. Avoid any sort letdown after last week's win, and Michigan's headed to the playoff. Michigan, 30-13
