Michigan, Eastern, Central make women’s NIT field

Michigan has qualified for the Women’s National Invitation Tournament for the third consecutive season.

The Wolverines (17-13) host Wright State at 7 Wednesday in a first-round game. If they win, they will take on the winner between Akron and Bucknell.

Michigan lost in the semifinals last season to eventual champion UCLA. The Wolverines have played in the tournament five of the past seven years and six of the last nine. It is their seventh consecutive postseason appearance.

Easterrn Michigan and Central Michigan also are in the field.

The Eagles (21-11) travel to St. Mary’s (Calif.) to play at 10 p.m. Thursday.

The Chippewas (22-10) host IUPUI at 7 p.m. Thursday.
