Michigan is third and Michigan State 16th in ESPN.com’s post-spring practice top 25 for football.

Mark Schlabath says of the Wolverines: ”In between his Twitter wars with other coaches, recruiting extravaganzas and spring break trips, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh is quickly building a playoff contender.”

Of the Spartans, he writes: “Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio faces a major rebuilding job this coming season ... sophomore tackle Malik McDowell looks like a budding All-American.”

Alabama and Clemson, who met in the national title game, are ranked 1 and 2, respectively.
