Ann Arbor — It appears Michigan freshman receiver Ahmir Mitchell and redshirt freshman defensive lineman Shelton Johnson have been suspended, although the reasons why and the length of suspensions were not specified by coach Jim Harbaugh on Monday.

Three freshmen did not appear in the Michigan team photo taken Aug. 7, and Harbaugh said Monday that two – without identifying them – were suspended. Freshman running back Kareem Walker also is not in the photo. A team spokesman at the time said the players had other commitments.

A Michigan official did say Walker is not one of the two suspended. When pressed for details, Harbaugh opted to keep things in-house. All three are on the roster.

“We’ll just handle that internally,” Harbaugh said.

He grew irritated when he was then asked how long the suspensions would last.

That’s why I don’t give you any information cause you’re never satisfied,” Harbaugh said. “You want a second question, a third question, a fourth question. I just said we’d handle it internally. Thank you.”

And with that, he abruptly ended the interview with local reporters.
