Jabrill Peppers' Heisman odds improving

Michigan linebacker Jabrill Peppers participates in warm-ups before the game against Rutgers.

Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers began the season with 60-1 odds to win the Heisman Trophy. Those odds are now 10-1 at the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook.

That’s behind just three players – Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson, Clemson QB Deshaun Watson and Ohio State QB J.T. Barrett.

Peppers, a linebacker / defensive back and the Wolverines’ primary punt returner, has 37 tackles this season, second on the team, 10 tackles for losses (first), six QB hurries (first), 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble.

He has 14 punt returns for 249 yards (17.8 average) and one TD. He had one punt return TD wiped out by a penalty Saturday night at Rutgers.

Harbaugh: Jabrill Peppers deserves Heisman Trophy

After that game, during which Peppers also rushed three times for 74 yards and two TD, coach Jim Harbaugh said Peppers deserves the Heisman Trophy.

“Gosh, if there’s a better player in the country, I don’t know who it is,” Harbaugh said. “I know there’s a lot of great players out there, but to be able to coach a guy like Jabrill Peppers is a real joy. There’s nothing he can’t do. It’s the darndest thing I’ve ever seen.

“My humble opinion, I believe that (you’re looking) at a Heisman Trophy winner.”
