Michigan-Ohio State earns historic TV ratings

The epic Michigan vs. Ohio State showdown on Saturday, televised by ABC, drew a 10.4 overnight rating, making it the second-most watched regular-season college football game in the network’s history, ESPN reported.

Ohio State defeated Michigan 30-27 in double overtime.

No. 1 for ABC is the 2006 Michigan vs. Ohio State game, also won by the Buckeyes, 42-39. That game earned an 11.5 overnight rating.

Saturday's game also was the most-watched this season on any network, topping the 7.0 rating earned by Notre Dame vs. Texas on Sept. 4 on ABC.

ESPN’s stream added 279,000 viewers in the average minute with a total of 1,273,000 unique viewers watching 69,661,000 minutes.
