Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown is one of five finalists for the Broyles Award, which honors the top assistant coach in college football.
Four of the finalists are defensive coordinators, including Alabama’s Jeremy Pruitt, Clemson's Brent Venables and Colorado's Jim Leavitt. Pittsburgh offensive coordinator Matt Canada also is a finalist.
The Broyles Award winner will be announced Dec. 6.
Brown's defense at Michigan was ranked No. 1 for much of the season, but after the double-overtime loss to Ohio State last Saturday, Michigan's defense is now ranked No. 2 (252.7 yards) behind Alabama (246.8). The Wolverines are No 2 in scoring defense (12.5), No. 1 in passing yards allowed (135.9) and third-down percentage defense (.209), and 14th in rushing yards allowed (116.8).
