Michigan is bringing in a solid class of defensive linemen and added a gem in five-star Aubrey Solomon.

Solomon committed to the Wolverines on Signing Day. He is 6-foot-3, 288 pounds and the No. 3 player in Georgia and No. 2 nationally at defensive tackle. He played for Lee County High in Leesburg, Georgia.

“The way they talked to me,” Solomon told ESPNU when asked why Michigan. “They didn’t talk to me like I was a piece. They talked to me like I was truly family.”

Solomon was asked if Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh imparted anything special to him.

“He just told me if I work hard, if I’m dedicated to it I have a starting spot or in the rotation,” Solomon said. “I’m one to work hard.”

Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown said the coaching staff was on "pins and needles" awaiting Solomon's decision.

"We're excited. He's going to be a great compliment in our four down system," Brown said. "It'll be nice to see him and (Rashan Gary) play next to each other sometimes."

It was an interesting courtship with Michigan. While Solomon had appeared to change his mind and was drawn more to Alabama, during the Army All-American week in January, much happened. He made some unflattering comments about Michigan in a video and then quickly scaled back and apologized.

After that, his communication with Michigan picked up steam.

Solomon had decommitted from Michigan in August after he received an inaccurate mailer from the program. He said Michigan sent his mother a card thanking them for attending the BBQ.

“But we never went,” Solomon told 247Sports at the time. “I do not know what recruit they were talking to, but it was not me. It was just a little heartbreaking for me to supposedly be so high on their list.”

Michigan had a couple misses early on Wednesday. Three-star offensive lineman Mekhi Becton (Highland Springs, Va.) chose Louisville over Michigan, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, and Virginia. Four-star linebacker Willie Gay opted to stay home and will play for Mississippi State. Michigan and Mississippi were in the mix for Gay.
