Michigan basketball’s 2018-19 schedule is slowly starting to be pieced together.

The program announced Tuesday it will participate in the 2018 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament in November.

The Wolverines will host Norfolk State on Nov. 6 and Holy Cross on Nov. 10 in a pair of round-robin campus games before traveling to the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut for the championships rounds, where it will face George Washington on Nov. 17 and either South Carolina or Providence on Nov. 18. Tip-off times and dates have yet to be announced.

"We are looking forward to the opportunity to play in the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament," Michigan coach John Beilein said in a statement. "It is a unique event which allows us to get some quality games early in the season. We have heard wonderful things about Mohegan Sun and its arena and know our Northeast alumni base will help make it a great environment."

The event consists of eight teams in two four-team brackets — the Naismith and the Springfield. Michigan will compete in the Naismith bracket along with George Washington (Atlantic 10), Providence (Big East) and South Carolina (SEC). The Springfield bracket features Holy Cross (Patriot League), Norfolk State (Mid-Eastern), Siena (Metro Atlantic) and Stony Brook (America East).

None of Michigan’s first three opponents in the tournament had a winning record or placed in the top three of their respective conference standings last season. Norfolk State finished 14-19 (11-5 in league); Holy Cross was 12-19 (8-10); and George Washington went 15-18 (7-11).

The Nov. 6 game against Norfolk State will also likely be Michigan’s season-opener.
