Michigan has made the cut for one of its longtime 2019 targets.

Joe Girard III, a three-star guard from New York, listed the Wolverines among his six finalists on Twitter Saturday, along with Boston College, Duke, Notre Dame, Penn State and Syracuse.

Girard (6-foot-2, 185 pounds) was named New York's Gatorade boys basketball player of the year after averaging 50 points, seven rebounds and six assists this past season at Glens Falls High. He set the state's career scoring mark as a junior and will enter his senior season with 3,306 total points.

Girard is rated the No. 5 prospect in New York and No. 145 in the nation in the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Michigan is also in the top 10 for five-star forward Keion Brooks and one of six finalists for four-star point guard D.J. Carton.

The Wolverines already have a 2019 commitment from four-star forward Jalen Wilson and have no available scholarships for 2019-20, but that's only if everyone from next season's team returns.
