Max Whipple and Simon Reonnecke scored two goals each as Bloomfield Hills Roeper rolled to a 4-2 soccer victory over Allen Park Inter-City Baptist in Michigan Independent Athletic Conference play.

After Whipple opened up the scoring in the 10th minute of the first half, Reonnecke quickly answered an Inter-City goal to give Roeper (9-1, 6-1 MIAC) a 2-1 halftime lead.

The duo would strike in the same order in the second half, pushing the Roeper advantage to 4-1 before Baptist added a late goal.

As the driving force behind the Roeper attack, Whipple and Reonnecke are lighting up the scoreboards at an impressive rate.

Whipple, who set a school record with 39 goals last season, has 23 this season. And Reonnecke, who scored 29 last season, has 19.

“Those two play great together,” Roeper coach Ed Sack said. “They find a way to score quick and often. We know we have the goal scoring to go far.”

After falling in the Division 4 state semifinal last year, Sack says his team is focused on getting back and finishing the job.

“We want to get to the state final this year, and once you get there, you’re not there to lose,” he said. “We know how precious it is to win each and every single game along the way.”
