Saturday's roundup: Lee, Caddell lead Loyola romp

Detroit Loyola crushed Pontiac Notre Dame Prep, 42-14, in a Catholic League football game on Saturday afternoon.

Loyola (5-0) took an eary 21-0 lead behind the passing of Nick Lee, who finished 8-for-12 for 192 yards and three touchdowns, and the running of Harvey Caddell, who had four rushes for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

"Nick did the job throwing today," Loyola assistant coach John Buscemi said. "We were able to make them pay."

Loyola held a 28-7 halftime lead.

Notre Dame held Loyola scoreless in the third quarter, though, before it put the game away with 16 points in the fourth quarter.

"We have a group of seniors this season," Buscemi said, "We have the leadership to take us over the top."

Pat Anger had a 14-yard TD run for Notre Dame (1-3).

Centerline 40, New Haven 7: Ryan Walker completed 10 of 16 passes for 256 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 55 yards and two more scores, and Steve Lucas had eight carries for 111 yards for Centerline (2-3).

Dearborn Divine Child 38, Lake Fenton 24: Jimmy Seewald was 11-of-24 passing for 272 yards and four touchdowns and scored on a 1-yard run for Divine Child (4-1). Danny Blade (38 and 66 yards) and Shane Fugate (11 and 50 yards) each had two touchdown catches.

Detroit Country Day 28, Escanaba 12: Steve Mann went 11-for-15 for 158 yards and two touchdowns and Matt Maclean rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown for Country Day (2-2).

Detroit King 27, Detroit Mumford 18: Nevarrio Davis had five catches for 117 yards and a touchdown for Mumford (3-2).

Farmington Hills Harrison 34, Southfield 27 (3OT): Javon Shaw threw for 107 yards and a touchdown and ran for 118 and another score, and Iwarri Smith rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns and caught a 14-yard touchdown pass for Harrison (4-1).

Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett 50, Southfield Christian 16: Connor McCarron went 20-for-27 for 311 yards and five touchdowns, and Nick Gawel caught six passes for 73 yards and two touchdowns for Liggett (4-1).

Riverview Gabriel Richard 21, Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood 7: Tyler Dlaszczak had 13 carries for 90 yards for Gabriel Richard (3-2).

Warren Michigan Collegiate 42, Southfield Bradford Academy 6: Senior Myric Lel ran five times for 102 yards and two touchdowns and also had a 4-yard touchdown catch for Collegiate (5-0, 4-0 Charter School). Senior quarterback Brendan Roberts was 8-for-13 passing for 124 yards and three touchdowns, and senior receiver Malcolm Cohen had three catches for 58 yards and a touchdown for Collegiate. Bradford fell to 1-4, 1-3.
