Lincoln Park — For a team that had just one win last season, Lincoln Park proved the 66-game losing streak is a thing of the past with a convincing 23-0 homecoming victory over Taylor Kennedy in a Downriver League showdown Friday night.

The last time Lincoln Park had won a homecoming game was 2004.

"It's the first homecoming win in many, many years here," Lincoln Park coach Jamie Grignon said. "I'm happy for the seniors."

Lincoln Park is now 3-3, its best record since going 4-5 in 2005, and Grignon believes his team is at a point where winning is not only possible, it's expected.

"From a year ago, and what happened over the last seven or eight years, we're real happy," Grignon said. "We just expect to win games."

After forcing Kennedy (0-6) to punt on the first series, Lincoln Park took over on downs and marched down the field, with senior Jordan Geha scoring on a 4-yard run with 4:14 left in the first quarter.

Geha had 11 carries for 29 yards and two touchdowns in the first half.

"Geha hasn't had a lot of touches because we've been airing it out a little bit lately," Grignon said. "It was good for him to get to the end zone a few times today."

With Geha leading the team on offense, it was the strong play of Lincoln Park's defense that kept Kennedy at bay, forcing two fumbles and getting three interceptions, earning its first shutout of the year.

"Our defense has been stellar all year long," Grignon said. "We felt we were in control the whole game."

Geha finished with 74 yards rushing and three touchdowns.
