Detroit — Romelo Ross had a game to remember Thursday night as Detroit Western International defeated Detroit Communication and Media Arts, 35-0.
Ross accounted for four of Western’s touchdowns, on both sides of the ball.
On Western’s first play from scrimmage, Ross took a handoff, ran the outside and went 65 yards for a touchdown.
Western stopped CMA’s first drive, and on its next drive, Ross again found the end zone.
Ross gave Western its third score when he ran an interception back 43 yards for a touchdown.
“He’s just got vision, he finds a hole and hits it,” Western coach Andre Harlan said of Ross. “He just plays a consistent game.”
Ross, a Central Michigan University commit, added a touchdown in the second half, and finished with 193 yards on 13 carries.
Khalil Banks scored the final touchdown for Western (4-4) on a 1-yard run.
Detroit Central 44, Detroit Southeastern 14: Darius Lynuam carried for 115 yards and two touchdowns, and completed 8 of 13 passes for another 185 yards, and Quenton Ross rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns for Central (5-3). Southeastern is 0-8.
Detroit Osborn 36, Detroit Allen Academy 8: Dajon Watson was 13-for-20 for 200 yards and a touchdown and returned two interceptions for touchdowns, Shayshon Bonner had 95 receiving yards and 80 rushing yards, and Dejon Johnson had 10 carries for 62 yards and a touchdown for Osborn (3-5).
Detroit Pershing 38, Detroit Douglass 12: Nyassinum Crowell Jr. had 10 carries for 190 yards and two touchdowns and Fredrick Roberts had 110 rushing yards for Pershing (4-4).
Detroit Renassaince d. Detroit King: Arielle Sears had six kills and 15 assists and Lydia Faulk had four aces and six kills for Renaissance (31-2).
