Saturday's roundup: U-D Jesuit takes down Toledo rival

In a battle of Jesuit high schools, U-D Jesuit doubled up outstate rival St. John's of Toledo 44-22 on Saturday afternoon.

Cassius Winston led the scoring with 17 points and Ike Eke added 10 for Detroit.

The Cubs remain undeafted at 4-0 for the season. St. John's fell to 1-2.


Grosse Pointe Woods University-Liggett 48, Sandusky 40: Jorden Peterson had 19 points and Jaren English had 10 for Liggett (2-1). Brandon Potter had 10 for Sandusky (2-3).

Benton Harbor 91, Detroit Osborn 87 (OT): Curtis Dawson had 30 points and Jason Gunn had 19 for Benton Harbor (3-0). Joseph Thomas had 24 points and Mekeen Merchant had 22 for Osborn (1-2).

Detroit Community 57, Taylor Kennedy 47: Kevin Rice scored 19 for Community (3-1). Kennedy is 2-2.

Detroit Consortium 46, Detroit King 43: Lester Johnson won it for Consortium (2-1) with a 3-pointer at the buzzer. King is 1-1.

Detroit Douglass 71, Ferndale 55: Kamar Graves scored 24, Darien Murphy had 19 and James Smith 18 for Douglass (3-1).

Detroit Henry Ford 71, Belleville 58: Joshua Davis had 19 points and 10 rebounds and James Towns had 16 points and seven assists for Henry Ford (4-0).

Melvindale 49, Taylor Prep 36: Montrez Suster scored 17 for Melvindale (2-1). Taylor Prep is 1-5.

Oak Park 66, Toledo Rogers 64: Veandre White scored 12 points, including the winning basket in the last second for Oak Park (4-0). Rogers is 4-1.

Romulus 70, Milan 36: Romulus (3-2) jumped out to a 32-3 lead and cruised to defeat the News' preseason-ranked No. 5 team. Jaylis Walker scored 24 for Romulus. Milan is 4-1.


Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood 4, Birmingham Rice 2: Austin Alger scored two goals and Cooper Stahl had two assists for Cranbrook (10-1).

Riverview Richard 9, Madison Heights Foley 0: Zach Gilreath had three goals and one assist and Jack Skreynski had two goals and three assists for Richard. Bishop Foley is 1-8.
