Rochester — Undefeated Rochester Adams kept rolling Friday night, cruising to a 64-38 victory over Rochester in the Crosstown Showdown at the O'Rena at Oakland University.

Amber Jamison led the way for Rochester Adams (10-0, 1-0 OAA Red) with 14 points. Raiven Owusu and Dazia Dinkins each scored 13.

Paola Barraza paced Rochester (1-9, 0-2 OAA Blue) with nine points – all on 3-pointers in the first half.

The two teams last played each other at Adams on Dec. 8 — Adams won 54-22. Still, the game, a nonconference crossover, was important to the teams.

"This rivalry — it's a big deal," Adams coach Shay Lewis said. "It was a big deal when I played at Adams. For our seniors on this stage — for it to be the last time they play Rochester it was a big deal."

Rochester started fast, leading 16-9 with 2:21 remaining and 18-16 at the end of the quarter.

"We came out tight," Lewis said of the slow start. "At the end of the first quarter I said 'Did we get that out of us?' and they (said) 'Yeah, we got that out of us.' "

Adams broke the game open in the second quarter — outscoring Rochester 19-2 on the way to a 35-20 halftime lead.

Adams started the second half on a 9-0 run in the first 2:55 of the third quarter.

Rochester did not score for nearly eight minutes — crossing over into the second half. Angie Lekosiotis broke the scoreless drought with a layup at the 3-minute mark of the third quarter.

Rochester went on a 6-2 run midway through the fourth quarter, but it was not enough.

Rochester coach Adam Sheldon said the loss of junior guard Delaney Norgrove with an apparent right leg injury in the second quarter changed the momentum for his team but added it was not the only factor in the loss.

"I think that might have taken a little wind out of the girls' sails because they're a really close group," he said. "I think that got to them a little bit, but Adams played pretty well — they're a solid team."

Lewis said the win was big for her team, but said the girls would need to remain focused.

"Sometimes when you're not playing in a league game, you come out a little bit lax and everything," she said. "I just told them 'Hey, if we're not giving 100 percent anybody can beat us on any given day. Don't think you're that good just because you have Adams across your chest.' "
