Tuesday roundup: Short-handed Clintondale pulls out win

Short four players, Clinton Township Clintondale still earned a 48-47 victory over host Port Huron on Tuesday night.

Fred Shepherd had 16 points to lead Clintondale (14-4). Captain Josh Jackson scored 10.

"We were playing with a shortened roster," Clintondale coach Rob Townsend said. "Some guys who don't get much playing time showed some composure. Our captain Josh Jackson really kept things together."

Clintondale trailed 22-18 at halftime, but managed to make it 34-34 after three quarters.

"The game was close the whole way," Townsesnd said.

With Clintondale ahead 46-39 with 1 minute 2 seconds remaining, Port Huron's Jovon Thomason hit a 3-pointer, cutting the lead to four.

Jordan Jackson — Josh's younger brother — pulled down the winning rebound as time expired.

Jovon Thomason scored 18 to lead Port Huron (13-5).

Clintondale closes its regular season Friday when it hosts Center Line. Port Huron travels to Croswell-Lexington.

"This is probably the most proud win I've had — certainly this year," Townsend said.

Farmington 67, Farmington Hills Harrison 58: Connor Greenlee had 15 points, Jordan Graham 13 and Justin Banks 10 for Farmington (10-9, 6-3 OAA Gold). John Rexroth scored 17 for Harrison (3-16, 2-7).

Sterling Heights 58, Clawson 51: David Rhodes had 19 points for Sterling Heights (3-16). Quentin Johnson scored 17 for Clawson (6-13).

Sterling Heights Parkway Christian 71, Taylor Baptist Park 65: Dominic Pauletti had 16 points and Caleb Shumake 15 for Parkway Christian (14-5, 11-1 MIAC Red). Seth Thompson scored 18 and Anthony Kaminski 14 to go with 20 rebounds for Baptist Park (10-9, 7-5). Kaminski scored his 1,500th career point.

Utica 65, Macomb Lutheran North 49: Caden Ebeling had 15 points and Joe Brown 12 for Utica (11-8). Jamesen McHale scored 24 for North (10-9).

Boys hockey

Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett 9, Madison Heights Bishop Foley 0: In a Division 3 pre-regional at McMann Arena, Alexander Minanov, Brett Abdelnour and Harrison Wujek each scored twice for Liggett. Bishop Foley is 2-22-1.
