East Lansing — The high school girls basketball postseason shifts to the Breslin Center, where four teams will celebrate state championships Saturday.

But before that can happen, 16 teams in four classes — A, B, C and D — will look to reach the final. Semifinal action starts today with Classes C and D followed by Classes A and B on Friday.

Birmingham Marian is trying to repeat in Class A, but first has to get past Detroit King. The teams played in the Operation Friendship game, with Marian handing King its lone loss this season — by one point.

All games at Breslin Center, East Lansing.

Thursday's semifinals

Class C — Calumet (22-2) vs. Laingsburg (26-0), 1 p.m.: Lindsey Smith has played well for Laingsburg. Laingsburg

■Class C — Ypsilanti Arbor Prep (22-3) vs. Flint Hamady (25-1), 2:50 p.m.: Arbor Prep's schedule, which included Marian, Country Day and numerous other powers, is a plus. Hamady has an outstanding 1-2 punch in 6-0 Aaliah Hill and Jalisha Terry. Arbor Prep

Class D — Pittsford (25-0) vs. Waterford Lakes (12-12), 6 p.m.: Waterford Lakes is the surprise team, reaching the .500 mark in the quarterfinal upset of Kingston. Steve Robak guided Lakes to three consecutive Class D state titles (2010-12). Pittsford

■Class D — Frankfort (24-1) vs. St. Ignace (20-5), 7:50 p.m.: Frankfort sent defending champ Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart packing. Look for Frankfort to continue its run. Frankfort

Friday's semifinals

Class A — DeWitt (24-1) vs. Saginaw Heritage (24-3), 1 p.m.: Look for DeWitt to reach the final behind its guard combination of Abby Nakfoor and Claudia Reid. DeWitt

Class A — Marian (24-1) vs. King (24-1), 2:50 p.m.: Marian has the experience and balanced scoring. King has size with the inside combination of 6-foot-3 seniors Leah Mathis and Malayasia McHenry. Marian

Class B — Benton Harbor (20-5) vs. Haslett (21-5), 6 p.m.: Benton Harbor is back in the semifinals for the first time since winning the Class A title in 2009. The Gondrezick sisters — Kalabrya and Kysre — will have to slow Haslett's 3-point shooting. Benton Harbor

Class B — Detroit Country Day (20-4) vs. Goodrich (25-1), 7:50 p.m.: Sophomore Destiny Pitts and freshman Kaela Webb are playing at a high level for Country Day, but Goodrich's experience and Miss Basketball Tania Davis are too much. Goodrich
