Thursday's roundup: Big inning lifts Woodhaven softball
A seven-run third inning Thursday gave Woodhaven the boost it needed for a 16-9 softball victory over visiting Wyandotte Roosevelt.
With rain falling early on, neither team could muster much offense.
"The pitchers were having a hard time handling the ball," Woodhaven coach Rick Weise said.
But when the rain stopped, Woodhaven (9-0) had itself an inning, anchored by Alyssa Harris' three-run home run.
Woodhaven led 11-3 after the inning and coasted to victory.
"Both teams hit the ball very well, we just happened to take advantage of some plays," said Weise.
