Melvindale Academy for Business and Technology moved to 11-2 on the season with a sweep of Detroit Henry Ford Academy in a doubleheader on Monday.

In the first game, Cameron Pope allowed just one hit in a nine strikeout, complete-game performance.

Clemente Reinoso went 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Curtis Derome did the same as ABT won 6-1.

Derome outdid himself in a 14-3 ABT victory in Game 2 as he went 3-for-3 with four RBIs, while Austin Laforet pitched five innings and struck out five.

Due to cancellations early in the season, this was the first game action for Henry Ford (0-2) this spring.


Detroit University Prep Science & Math 20, Detroit Community 4 (3 innings): Marc Quirles struck out nine and went 3-for-3 from the plate with five RBIs, Ian Scott went 3-for-3 with four RBIs, Ben Nelson went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Joshua Hughes went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for University Prep (2-1). John Muhammad went 2-for-2 with two RBIs for Community (1-2).


Detroit Cody 9, Detroit College Prep at Northwestern 8 (4 inn.): Nazaha Powell went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored for Cody (3-0, 3-0). Northwestern is 2-1.

Detroit Denby 22, Detroit King 8: Denby is 3-2, 1-2 PSL.

Detroit Renaissance 14, Detroit Cass Tech 0 (5 innings): Nijah Slaughter struck out nine and allowed one hit, Autumn Hoerauf hit a grand slam, and Zahji Billingslea went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Renaissance (7-2).

Detroit Western 15, Detroit East English 0: Elizabeth Ludolph threw a no-hitter with nine strikeouts and Bernice Hernandez had a grand slam for Western.

Woodhaven 7, Taylor Truman 0: Emma Sikima went 3-for-4 with double and a homer, and Kasey Cassette was 3-for-3 with a double and a triple for Woodhaven.


New Baltimore Anchor Bay 2, Davison 0: Jada Foster and Casey Douturier scored for Anchor Bay (6-0-1). Davison is 1-2-1.
