Tuesday's roundup: Notre Dame Prep completes sweep

Mark Marrone pitched a one-hit complete game and struck out 10 in the opener of a doubleheader sweep by Pontiac Notre Dame Prep over Macomb Lutheran North on Tuesday.

Marrone moved to 3-1 as gave up just one hit over seven innings while walking four.

Jake Depillo hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to really break open the game while Luke Schilling and Joey Agro each notched RBI singles for Notre Dame.

In the second matchup, Will Mullen came in to pitch with two runners on in the fifth inning. Mullen struck out the next seven Lutheran North hitters to earn the save as Notre Dame won 4-2.

Patrick Bridges pitched 4.1 innings, striking out five and earning his first win.

Matt Bur, Joey Vyskocil and Joe Mukhtar had RBI singles for Notre Dame.

Detroit Central Collegiate 10, Detroit Denby 7: D'Angelo Bell pitched a complete game, allowing just three hits and striking out five while going 1-for-2 with two RBIs, and Darius Lynum and Donte Whitt each had two RBIs for Collegitate (2-3). Donovan Watson went 2-for-2 with five RBIs for Denby (0-5).

Detroit East English 13, Detroit Collegiate Prep at Northwestern 0 (4 innings): Curron Suttle-Neal pitched three innings, striking out four while going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Fred Jones went 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored, and Melvin Coleman went 2-for-3 and scored three runs for East English (5-0). Northwestern is 2-2.

Detroit King 6-10, Detroit CMA 1-0: Ashanti Witt struck out 17 in the first game and D'Nayus Johnson went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Johnson struck out 12 in the second game and went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and four RBIs for King (7-6, 4-2 PSL).

Detroit Osborn 8, Detroit Henry Ford 1: Juan Thomas struck out five in four innings, while Keinole Stevens went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two stolen bases for Osborn (5-2, 4-1 PSL). Gregory Thomas also had two steals. Henry Ford is 4-1 in the PSL.

Detroit Pershing 15, Detroit Cody 4 (3 innings): Malik Harcum was the winnings pitcher. Harcum struck out three and allowed one hit, and Devin Wheeler went 2-for-2 with a double and a homerun for Pershing (2-3). Cody is 1-4.

Royal Oak 15, Ferndale 0 (4 innings): David Lundeen didn't allow a hit as he struck out eight, Dylan Randall and Jack Zimmerman had two hits and three RBIs apiece, and Griffin Caldwell had three hits and two RBIs for Royal Oak (9-5, 7-0 OAA Gold). Ferndale is 5-7, 3-5.

Warren De La Salle 12, Troy 5: Matt Helb went 2-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBIs, and Zack Zschering went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for De La Salle (9-9).


Grosse Pointe South 10, Marine City 0: Andie Anger went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run and Emma St. John went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and a triple for South (15-0). Marine City is 2-4.

Macomb Dakota 10, St Clair 4: Kendahl Dunford pitched a complete game, and Corbin Hison went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for Dakota (11-3, 4-0 MAC Red). Avery Humes went 2-for-4 for St Clair (8-5, 2-2).

Novi Franklin Road 22, Plymouth Christian 0 (3 innings): Hannah Rayburn went 3-for-4 with five RBIs and Kayla Nannoshi pitched three innings, giving up just one hit for Franklin Road (3-4, 2-2 MIAC Red).

Bloomfield Hills 1, Berkley 0: Karmyn Carter scored for Bloomfield Hills (5-3).

Lake Orion 3, Oxford 1: Hannah Cady, Jordyn Marchese and Molly Moreman scored for Lake Orion (8-2-4, 4-2-2 OAA White). Katrese Moll scored for Oxford (2-3-4, 1-2-3).

Boys track

Walled Lake Western 72, Walled Lake Northern 65: Dorian Favors threw 47 feet to win the shot put and Jacob Petruno won the 2-mile with a time of 10:38.9 for Western.

Girls track

Walled Lake Northern 95, Walled Lake Western 42: Rile Johnson set school records for Northern in the shot put (37 feet, 2 inches) and discus (128 feet, 8 inches). Lexi Robinson won the high jump (4 feet, 10 inches) and long jump (15 feet, 5 inches) for Western.
