Saturday's roundup: Royal Oak sweeps DH from Consortium
Justin Marshall tossed a complete-game shutout as Royal Oak swept a doubleheader from Detroit Consortium on Saturday.
The senior right-hander allowed only two hits and struck out eight in the 7-0 victory in the opening game. Marshall and Jamie Bartelotti each drove in two runs to provide the offense.
In the nightcap, Bobby Green's fourth-inning, two-run double proved to be the game-winner in Royal Oak's 6-5 win.
Jack Zimmerman pitched the final two innings for the victory.
Royal Oak improves to 11-5.
Farmington 12. South Lyon 5: Nik Campbell went 3-for-4 with six RBIs and Alex Manafa had two hits and two RBI for Farmington (13-10).
Grosse Pointe South 12, Richmond 9 (6 inn.): At the Mount Pleasant Oiler Invitational, Justin McMann homered and had four RBIs in the title game. Ryan Liagre and Brad Thompson each had two hits and two RBIs for Grosse Pointe South (16-5), which also posted wins over Mount Pleasant (10-9) and Davison (8-6) en route to the tournament championship.
Pontiac Notre Dame 11-7, Allen Park Cabrini 1-5: In the opener, Luke Schilling allowed one hit and struck our 12 for his fifth win and Pat Bridges had two hits and four RBI for Notre Dame. In the nightcap, Will Mullen allowed two hits and struck out five for the win and Kory Zajkowski went 3-for-3 for Notre Dame (15-8-1).
Walled Lake Northern 7-12, Lapeer 6-5:In the first game, Justin Pawloski went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Jordan Anstandig had two hits and two RBIs for Northern. In the second game, Daniel Gieselman went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and Anstandig had two hits and two RBIs for Northern (11-3).
Warren Cousino 6, Utica Stevenson 6 (6 inn.): At the Utica Stevenson Tournament, Cousino's Nick Palmer's blasted a two-run homer, only to have Stevenson's Greg McDade launch a three-run shot in the bottom of the third inning. Cousino (17-6-2) won the tournament by finishing 2-0-1 with wins over Cousino (6-1) and Stevenson (4-1). Garrett Navarra struck out 12 in the win over Mott.
