Monday's roundup: Renaissance, Cass Tech in PSL final

The matchups for the Detroit Public School League softball championships are set after Detroit Renaissance routed Detroit East English Village Prep and Cass Tech defeated Detroit Western International on a rainy Monday afternoon.

In Division 1, Renaissance (8-0 PSL) took a big step toward an 11th consecutive PSL championship with a three-inning, 15-0 victory behind Chloe Ostoloza, who struck out seven. Brianna Lawrence went 3-for-3 and Kiara Ware was 2-for-2.

In the other D-1 semifinal, Brianna Demyers struck out 13 for Cass Tech in an 11-3 win. Rosie Wise, Brandi Witted and Brooke Thomas each drove in two runs for Cass Tech (7-1 PSL).

Elizabeth Ludolph pitched six innings and struck out eight for Western (11-12, 5-3).

In Division 2, Breanna McNeece, Daija Parks, Jada Strickland and Simone Ward scored four runs apiece for Central (7-3, 5-2) in a 19-3 victory over Osborn, while Janeia Jones earned the win, striking out six, and went 3-for-3 with four RBIs in Cody's 22-1 victory over Pershing. Elexis Walls also went 3-for-3 with four RBIs for Cody (8-1, 7-0).


New Baltimore Anchor Bay 1, Utica Ford 0: Whitney Fleming scored and Emily Zweng made eight saves for Anchor Bay (9-1-3, 2-1-2 MAC Red). Ford is 10-3-1, 4-2.
