New Baltimore Anchor Bay used second-half goals Thursday to advance past Port Huron Northern, 4-1, in a Division 1 district soccer semifinal at Macomb L'Anse Creuse North.

" It felt like at times we were going through the motions in the first half, " Anchor Bay coach Kevin Grammens said.

His team made adjusments, changed up tactically to get players to press a bit more and put more pressure on the North goal.

After a scoreless first half, Anchor Bay (14-2-3) scored twice in the first 20 minutes of the second half with goals by Sydney Rekar and Whitney Fleming to put themselves in good position.

Ashley Jones pulled one back for Northern (8-6-4) with about eight minutes left, but Anchor Bay never panicked.

Jada Foster stretched the advantage with a goal with three minutes left.

Anchor Bay will play at 2 p.m. Saturday in a district final against Utica Eisenhower, a 3-1 winner over Macomb Dakota.

The teams split their regular-season meetings.
