Saturday's roundup: Liggett wins Division 3 district

Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett defeated Clinton Township Clintondale10-0 in a shortened five-inning Division 3 baseball district final Saturday.

Matt Gushee tossed the complete game shutout with five strikeouts.

Nick Asar led the hitting attack, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs.

Liggett improves to 21-11.

Detroit Country Day 5, Madison Heights Lamphere 3: Devin Beach pitched five innings in relief, allowing five hits and striking out three for the win and Nick Wennerth had two hits and three RBIs for Country Day (16-14).

Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood 7, Pontiac Notre Dame 3: Matt Phelem tossed seven innings with five strikeouts for the win and Nolan Trepeck and Nolan Rugow each drove in a pair of runs for Cranbrook (18-19).

Detroit King 16, Detroit Cass Tech 3: Ashanti Witt tossed a complete game and went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Johnaton Barbie had two hits and three RBIs for King (13-12).

Softball districts

Detroit Community 21, Ecorse 5: April Jones went four innings allowing three hits for the win and Alana Jackson had three hits including a pair of triples and two steals for Community (7-7)

Detroit Renaissance 16, Southfield 1: Autumn Hoerauf had two hits and three RBIs and Mijah Slaughter tossed three innings with five strikeouts for the win for Renaissance (24-9).

Detroit Renaissance 18, Detroit Cody 0: Carmen Ramirez went 3-for-3 with five RBIs and Chloe Oxtoloza struck out six in two innings for the win for Renaissance (25-9).
