Grosse Pointe South used superb pitching to capture the Division 1 Region 5 baseball title on Saturday.

In the first game, South defeated Allen Park 5-0.

Andrew Fabry picked up his ninth win and lowered his ERA to 0.58 with a four-hit shutout while striking out four.

James Fishback went 4-for-4 and Will Poplawski had two hits.

In the championship game, Will Norris allowed two hits and struck out seven for his seventh win as South defeated U-D Jesuit 5-2.

Will Poplawski again led the hitting attack with two hits and an RBI.

"This is our second straight trip to the 'Elite Eight,'" South coach Dan Griesbaum said. " You have to give this team a lot of credit."

South improves to 31-11 and will play Grosse Pointe North in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
