Friday's roundup: Czarnecki powers Trenton

Trenton — Trenton senior quarterback Patrick Czarnecki is in his first season as his team's starter, and despite Trenton's 33-14 victory at home over Lincoln Park on Friday night, there are still some growing pains.

Patrick's father, Trenton coach Bob Czarnecki, said as much after the game.

"He was still real inconsistent early on," Bob Czarnecki said.

Patrick Czarnecki finished 10-for-16 for 205 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

"Those picks, they were my fault," he said. "We've got to minimize those mistakes and we can beat anyone in the state."

"I think he's a spark plug for us," Bob Czarnecki said of his son.

Patrick also had 10 carries for 47 yards and a touchdown.

For Lincoln Park (2-1, 2-1), quarterback Steve Glenn was 11-for-24 for 166 yards and two touchdowns. He added 7 carries for 30 yards.

"Right to the end we never gave up," Lincoln Park coach Jamie Grignon said. "I'm really proud of our team. We played one of the best teams in our league and we're thinking we have a lot of success laying ahead of us."

Allen Park 31, Woodhaven 0: Nate Berrelez had 21 carries for 214 yards and one touchdown, Ryan Fish 96 rushing yards and an interception, Bruce Wilkie scored on three 1-yard runs and Reid Paffhausen had seven tackles for Allen Park (2-1, 2-1 Downriver). Woodhaven is 1-2, 1-2.

Auburn Hills Avondale 15, Royal Oak 12: Tyler Grosz ran for 131 yards, threw for 91 yards and had two total touchdowns, including the winning 24-yard touchdown pass to Mitchell Riley on a fourth-and-9 with 22 seconds left for Avondale (2-1, 2-0 OAA Blue). Vontrez Glasper and Jirimiah Evans led the defense with eight tackles each. Royal Oak is 1-2, 1-1.

Birmingham Groves 21, Southfield-Lathrup 0: Earnest Allen had 24 carries for 149 yards and a touchdown, Nate Higley had three catches for 57 yards and a touchdown, as well as a 70-yard kickoff return touchdown and Collin Heard had four tackles and three pass break-ups for Groves (3-0). Southfield-Lathrup is 1-2.

Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood 18, Macomb Lutheran North 17: Aaron Wiggins had 150 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries, and Daniel Russell caught five passes for 50 yards for Cranbrook-Kingswood (3-0). Charles Cruse passed for 90 yards and rushed 17 times for 92 yards while Jack Pyle had 10 tackles and a sack for Macomb (1-3).

Clawson 42, Mount Clemens 6: Justin Rudnicki had five carries for 171 yards and two touchdowns, and Kourtney Manley was 9-for-12 for 144 yards and had three total touchdowns for Clawson (3-0, 2-0 MAC Bronze). Mount Clemens is 0-3, 0-2.

Clinton Township Chippewa Valley 32, Sterling Heights Stevenson 28: Patrick Briningstool had four touchdown passes and Stefan Claiborne had two touchdown receptions and a key interception late in the game for Chippewa Valley (2-1, 1-1 MAC Red). Frankie D'Ascenzo had a 68-yard rushing touchdown and threw for another score for Stevenson (2-1, 1-1).

Dearborn Heights Robichaud 49, Redford Union 8: Jairus Grissom accounted for three scores for Dearborn Robichaud (3-0). Grissom finished 9-for-19 for 160 yards and two touchdowns. He also added another 62 yards with a touchdown on three carries.

Detroit Catholic Central 54, Toronto St. Michael's 0: Nicholas Capatina had touchdown runs of 13 and two yards and a 96-yard kickoff return touchdown, Alex Bock added a 41-yard punt return touchdown, and Carson Kovath rushed for 57 yards on six carries for Catholic Central (2-1). St. Michael's is 0-2.

Detroit Country Day 40, Detroit Allen Academy 0: Steve Mann was 3-for-5 for 75 yards, Chris Bergan had two receptions for 63 yards and a touchdown and had an interception return for a score, Mike McClain had a 29-yard touchdown run, and Jeremiah Tyler also had a touchdown run for Country Day (2-1).

Detroit Cody 24, Detroit Western 20: Rodney Graves had three catches for 110 yards, including an 89-yard touchdown reception, Robert Pinkston had six tackles and two interceptions, and Rashod Baker had 10 tackles and a sack for Cody (1-2, 1-0 PSL). Western is 1-2, 0-1.

Detroit Denby 14, Detroit Renaissance 13: Adonte Calhoun had 75 total yards and Lamont Montgomery had a pair of interceptions for Denby (2-1).

Detroit Northwestern 27, Detroit Central 0: Running back Chris Dennis rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns, Danny Whitt was 10-for-17 for 175 yards and two touchdowns, one to Mike Marin and one to Calvin Fair. Monterrio Jackson had seven tackles and four sacks for Northwestern (3-0). Central is 1-2.

Detroit Pershing 26, Detroit Southeastern 20: Nyassinu Crowell had 15 carries for 210 yards and two touchdowns, and Omar Twilley had 10 carries for 105 yards and one touchdown for Pershing (2-1).

Detroit U-D Jesuit 62, Detroit Delta Prep 0: Yusuf Lewis had five touchdowns, Victor Hill scored on a 40-yard interception return, Greg Leatherwood had a fumble recovery for a touchdown and Xavier Rice recovered a punt block for a touchdown for Jesuit (3-0). Delta Prep is 1-1.

Farmington Hills Harrison 24, Oak Park 0: Anthony Giovanni was 7-for-8 for 87 yards and two touchdowns, David Vinsky had a 37-yard interception return for a touchdown, and Tommy Williams had three catches for 63 yards and two touchdowns for Harrison (2-1).

Harper Woods Chandler Park Academy 32, Detroit Old Redford 14: D.J. Griffin ran for 185 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries, and Jalen Martin had six catches for 155 yards and one touchdown for Chandler Park (1-2, 1-0 Charter). Old Redford is 0-3, 0-2.

Livonia Stevenson 35, Novi 32: Austin Petrie had 23 carries for 154 yards, Chris Tanderys was 7-of-14 for 107 yards and had three total touchdowns, and Nate Bunton scored on a 66-yard interception return for Stevenson (3-0, 1-0 KLAA Central). Nathan Hankerson ran for 103 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries for Novi (0-3, 0-1).

Milan 27, Riverview 7: Demetrius Barnes completed 6-of-7 passes for 125 yards and a touchdown and rushed 24 times for 82 yards and a touchdown. Trace Lindeman added 130 rushing yards and two touchdowns for Milan (2-1, 2-0 Huron). Eric Gant had 30 carries for 159 yards and a touchdown for Riverview (1-2, 0-2 Huron).

Orchard Lake St. Mary's 24, Mishawaka (Ind.) Penn 21: Justin Myrick had 18 carries for 133 yards and two touchdowns and Brendan Tabone was 9-for-10 for 138 yards and one touchdown for St. Mary's (3-0). Penn is 3-1.

New Baltimore Anchor Bay 7, Grosse Pointe South 3: Kyle Kessler had a 25-yard touchdown run, Jordan Irwin rushed for 123 yards and Ryan Murphy had eight tackles for Anchor Bay (2-1). Grosse Pointe South is 1-2.

North Farmington 22, Rochester 12: Eric Mixon carried the ball 20 times for 208 yards and two touchdowns, Mike Knox had eight tackles, one for loss, and Jared Fish had a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown for North Farmington (2-1). Rochester in 0-3.

Plymouth 35, Wayne Memorial 13: Darius Timmons ran the ball 31 times for 245 yards with four touchdowns and Isaac Emminger had 16 carries for 61 yards and a touchdown for Plymouth (2-1, 1-0). Jarvis Martin had 84 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries for Wayne Memorial (0-3, 0-1).

River Rouge 51, Ecorse 0: Alexander Carter rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns, Antoine Burgess had 163 total yards, Jamal Bonner had four tackles for loss and one sack, and Reggie Pearson had a forced fumble and a fumble recovery for River Rouge (3-0, 1-0 Michigan Metro). Ecorse is 0-3, 0-1.

Rochester Adams 34, Birmingham Seaholm 14: Chase Kareta rushed for two TDs, Kyle Woods scored on a 15-yard run while Jamie Perry had a 50-yard fumble return and Jake Anderson a 40-yard fumble return for Adams (2-1, 1-1 OAA White). Seaholm falls to 1-2, 1-1 OAA White.

Rochester Hills Stoney Creek 35, Bloomfield Hills 17: Tristen Lienen had 23 carries for 132 yards, Frank Potenza was 4-for-10 for 86 yards and two touchdowns and had a 6-yard touchdown reception, and Victor VanAlmen had six tackles and scored on a 64-yard interception return for Stoney Creek (1-2, 1-1 OAA Red). Bloomfield Hills is 0-3, 0-2.

St. Clair Shores South Lake 28, Warren Fitzgerald 26: Najon Moore had 34 carries for 239 yards and three touchdowns and Stephen Gregerson had 15 carries for 96 yards and a touchdown and was 11-for-26 for 126 yards for Fitzgerald (1-2, 0-2 MAC Silver).

Taylor Kennedy 25, Taylor Truman 6: Tyler Lawrence completed 6-of-9 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns and Iland Amerson had five tackles and a 50-yard interception return for touchdown on defense and three catches for 61 yards on offense for Kennedy (1-2). Truman is 0-3.

Utica Eisenhower 34, Macomb L'Anse Creuse North 32: Andrew Szalkowski rushed for 182 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries for Eisenhower (2-1, 1-1 MAC Red). L'Anse Creuse North is 1-2, 0-2.

Walled Lake Western 44, Waterford Kettering 0: Kyle Thomas was 15-for-23 for 241 yards and three touchdowns and Cody White had four receptions for 104 yards and two scores for Western (3-0, 1-0 KLAA North). Kettering is 2-1, 0-1.

Warren Cousino 56, Harrison Township L'Anse Creuse 20: Karry DeBose had 22 carries for 207 yards and four touchdowns, Ben Maleszyk was 10-for-12 for 213 yards and one touchdown, Jerrold King had four catches for 121 yards, and Lawrence McCullom had a 17-yard rushing touchdown, a sack and an interception for Cousino (3-0, 2-0 MAC Blue). L'Anse Creuse is 1-2, 1-1.

Warren De La Salle 48, Windsor Holy Names 0: Julian Turner had two touchdowns, Evan Holland ran a blocked punt for a score and Miles Charlie had a 30-yard touchdown reception for De La Salle (2-1).

Warren Mott 32, Macomb Dakota 27: Mike Pond had a 35-yard rushing touchdown and threw touchdowns passes of 39 and 48 yards to Maurice Allen for Mott (3-0, 2-0 MAC Red). Allen also scored on a 51-yard interception return and Javon Wilson added a 47-yard rushing touchdown. Dakota is 2-1, 1-1.
