Free throws usually decide a tight game down the stretch, and Monday night’s Michigan Independent Athletic Conference Blue Division battle was no exception.

Naomi Savas hit two free throws with just under a second remaining to seal a 41-36 win for Bloomfield Hills Roeper over Plymouth Christian.

Roeper (7-2, 1-1) had to fend off a late Plymouth Christian comeback, as the backcourt pressure proved tough to handle at times.

“We struggled against their press,” Roeper coach Corray Lett said. “But we finished strong by getting it to our best shooters.”

Akwia Tilton (13 points) did the majority of her damage from the line, going 9-for-12 from the charity stripe. Savas finished with 15 to pace Roeper.

Aliyah Pries scored 12 and Lydia Chapel 10 for Playmouth Christian (3-5, 0-2).
