Roseville coach Sean Hansen was happy with the way his team bounced back in its 62-51 boys basketball victory over Warren Fitzgerald Thursday night.

“They came out and they had a good game plan,” Hansen said. “We took their punch and we responded.”

Zavon Godwinn had 16 points and 13 rebounds for Roseville (7-2, 3-1 MAC White). Abdono Berry added 14 points.

“I thought our front court played outstanding,” Hansen said.

Carl Pettway scored 20 for Fitzgerald (5-5, 2-3).

Fitzgerald jumped out to 13-5 lead midway through the quarter, and led 15-14 after one.

Roseville turned momentum in its favor, and led 26-24 at the half.

In the third quarter, Roseville outscored Fitzgerald, 25-10, and didn’t look back.

“We put some pressure on them and we controlled the glass,” Hansen said.

Caleb Reynolds, who finished with 13 points, had a pair of key steals and made a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter.

“He was a sparkplug on the defensive end,” Hansen said. “He was a big part of our third quarter.”

Roseville travels to Sterling Heights Stevenson on Tuesday, while Fitzgerald will host Grosse Pointe North.
